LOL
I just found out we don't get gear but that's fine. We still get the distribution and sponsoring. That's way more important. Plus, with bigger gear, that's just bigger shit I'd have to lug to places like the Chance Theater
Last night SUCKED. We opened for LA Guns and Faster Pussycat in Long Island and everyone we brought showed up late, the stage sound was off, my hand felt like it was going to break for some reason when I was playing. The to top it all off, some fuckhole was slashing tires in the parking lot and slashed two on my singer's Mustang. After we got the tow truck, I had to get my drummer home safely by driving his Jeep home because he was so smashed we couldn't even wake him up when we got back. Good thing I know how to drive stick and didn't drink.
The Chance gig next week should be good because we're headlining and everyone opening up for us is bringing people and know us. Plus my guitarist managed to make like 50 friends up there that love us. I have no clue how the hell he did that.
Our Westchester gig is supposed to be great. It's not a big place but we'll have a few hundred people between my two bands and the other two bands. It's mainly because they don't really have to travel. The place is only 5 min away for me

Well the good part about bombing in front of LA Guns and Faster Pussycat is that who the hell takes they're aging fans seriously? Its almost like it never happened.

We killed at the Chance last night. They gave us such and awesome stage sound it felt like an arena up there. The whole band was so much more into it because of it. I went ballistic with head banging and showmanship. The crowd totally dug it and there was an agent there that wants to book us to headline in 10 clubs in the whole lower New York area. It turns out he was there to check us out and we had no idea til afterwards. It was definitely a success!

Is lower NYC the place to play in that city?
I saw pics of your show on face book. You guys look like you got a real stage presence.

I believe Manhattan is the worst fuckin place to play right now. It used to be the best. You're better off anywhere else in the tri-state area than Manhattan. Now it's just full of homos and emo music
The Chance is in Poughkeepsie which is about 2 hours North of Manhattan. Drowning Pool is playing there Friday and Queensryche will be there next week. It's more where we belong. You're better off headlining the Chance once than playing all over Manhattan every week these days.
The Crazy Donkey where we played the week before is like 3 1/2 hrs in the opposite direction of the Chance. We drive past the Manhattan into Long Island to play there.
In a nutshell, what I'm getting at is, play the tristate area, just avoid actual Manhattan. Even Northern Jersey and Brooklyn have better places

I tried to describe your bands sound today to some dudes that like good rock and I couldn't. It came out like "They sound like uhmmm, you know, kinda like, fuck bro, they're awesome".
Also, this is a fan idea, if you don't run with my idea, I'll live. You guys have a special quality about you, but I think to really elevate you, you need to cover a song and make it your own. Kinda like what Manson did to Sweet Dreams or what Jimi did to All Along The Watch Tower. Just run with it and make us forget the original.
For example:
With your sound I think you can pull this off and BAM, you got a sick fucking song. I think what can happen with the chorus for a dude band would be amazing.

Thanks man. I really appreciate that We're willing to fuck up any song(in a good way). I like the idea of taking obscure songs that no other band like us would ever do, but that I think we could pull off. Why should Tori Amos be any different?! I don't know if you heard the remixes Naitch. If you go here www.reverbnation.com/#/karasceneI suggest to check out "where it starts". I'm real proud of that. You still won't get the exact cd quality but you'll get the idea

That's a good idea by Naitch and I think he's picked out a pretty good song. Tori Amos did a cover version of Slayer's "Raining Blood" a few years back.
Also, Carcass did a metal version of Bjork's "Isobel" which is pretty nifty:

Something a little more uptempo in the beginning I think would totally work. I have nothing against it being Tori Amos. I'm just thinking of how we would do it live or in the rehearsal room
The funny thing is you guys put up songs by Bjork and Tori Amos and that was my ex girlfriends two favorite artist that I could never get into. The ex girlfriend that Daffney reminded me of a goth version of. I would still love to fuck up an obscure song someday though
Oh BTW, Universal Records is waiting for our record to be done. We've had a problem with my bass. Something with the preamp on it. It's been ok live but not cutting it for recording. So we haven't been able to move forward on the last 4 songs we have to do. We do have final mixes done though and they are actually matched up, qualitywise with Avenged Sevenfold. We were comparing our overall frequency mix tonight to one of their songs to make sure it was good to go on cd

Get yer thinking cap on, lad Example ORIGINAL: COVER VERSION: Aye, I posted the Bjork song just to show it's possible, no matter how fruity the original song is. Although if you wanted to cover a Bjork song, then V suggest...

Yeah but you want it to be recognizable. So if it's slightly uptempo, the beat will be there to support it and then we can just unload fury on it. I mean, you can do ANYTHING with any song but we still like using the baseline(just to be clear, Baseline, not bass line lol) for the song, but with our sound.
We've done Billy Idols Rebel Yell and my drummer and I just go off on bass runs and tom rolls during the whole song and it sounds pretty sick. Tom Petty's Running Down the Dream, we'd just drive the shit out of it when we'd do it. The next song we're going to do is, Judas Priest Revolution. The reason we're doing that one is because it's actually an Obscure Judas Priest song that not many people know about. It never hit because it doesn't sound like Judas Priest. But it's a great song

Didn't mean to steal anyone's thunder. I just think it would be a good idea. Create some buzz, you know? Hook some different people in. "Oh, I know that song. Oh hey, they've got a good sound. I'll go google them... oh hey, they've got a record out / they're playing a gig near me."
Nahhhhhh.
