I know I haven't been in this thread much but time to brag. Passed my Air Force Fitness Test today with a score of 88.33 (out of 100). Pretty impressive whichever way you cut it. I've been keeping things ticking over. Averaging about 15 miles a week running. If I wasn't eating so poorly I might even have lost the last of this weight I'm trying to shed, but I seem stuck at 170lbs. Which I'm kinda okay with. Last Monday (public holiday here in blighty) I cycled from my home to my sister's place, which is about 35 miles (the route I went, anyhow). I've got time off coming up and I'm going to do some seriousish bicycling during it. Stupid weather permitting.

35 miles is a lot! Another 20 miles it would be equal to half an ironman in biking

Naitch, I do my running outdoors. Usually running/jogging and now and again I'll go to an open area and do some sprinting mixed with the running.
Sounds like you're on a good roll Champ, just need to focus more on the diet and cardio for a while to shed some lingering pounds.
V, if you are trying to zap off a final few pounds, I would recommend going really strict on the diet and doing some intense cardio work with it. Do sprints instead of the familiar jogging pace and definitely spend some hours out on the bike, that will really help.
It's a decent day here so I am away out running in a little while. I'm a sad panda after watching South Park so I need to get that out of my system, lol.

With me I KNOW why I'm not losing weight. I know now for sure it's it's the meds. I'm over the quitting smoking and already put those pounds on a while ago. But now, during the day I do GREAT. I'm talking, protein shakes, wheat bread, low fat peanut butter, and hard boiled eggs. Even at night, if I don't take my sleep meds, I can hang out all night and not eat, just drink water and maybe a protein shake. THEN what happens is, I can't sleep, so I have to take my meds. An hour later I have to eat my face off or I don't want to go to sleep, even if I try forcing myself. It's weird. I was told that it's common with this particular med though. I need something to go to sleep so hopefully I'll fix that with the doc Wednesday

Champ, you might have missed this piece of advice on the other page (it was the last post), elliptical machine. I eat like a dirty pig and am losing a ton of weight while using it 3-5 times a week.

Ah I hate the ellipticals. I use the treadmill. I feel like I get a better cardio workout on a treadmill. I know I'll lose weight when I deal with this med issue. I've been told by every doctor this med makes you gain weight and I lost 5 lbs in the last month. So I know I'm working out right and eating right otherwise. I already cut the pill down almost in half and I'm already eating a lot less at night too. Plus it slows your metabolism down a great deal which is also bad for gaining weight

Actually being motivated to make that extra effort is another matter. I mean, all told I'm in good shape and very fit now. These last few pounds are purely for cosmetic purposes. I'm pleased that I've kept up a good routine for nearly a year now.

Its when your standing totally straight, thats how chubby you are.

Well if you look at wrestlers with skinny waists, when they're on the ground in a chinlock or something, they look flabbier

So how are you all getting on with the staying fit stuff?
I've been eating really healthily for a while now. Can't even remember the last time I had a bit of chocolate, or a fizzy drink or anything like that.
Had a good run tonight. Still not been doing as much actual exercise as I would like to but I'm doing it often enough.

Funny you should bump this thread, because it's exactly a year since I started making an effort. Time really does fly.
Still doing a lot of running (although I'm on hiatus for a couple of weeks because I needed a break from it). I could do with eating a bit better. I'm very happy to have kept a routine and although I'd like to lose just a few more pounds I'm also happy to have kept my weight at 170-172lbs for the last six months or so.

Going strong after a full year is a real success. Well done. Taking a break now and again is necessary, I feel. I also make sure I take some time off to rest now and again.

I was doing awesome for 6 months straight but I started a new job last month in a tree company. It's a lot of hours and early hrs so I haven't been getting to the gym barely 3 days a week. It's also hard to eat well. But I've cut down my portions and I'm bringing a cooler with lunch now.
I did, however, lose 11 lbs since May

I also try to always take my own stuff to work with me. It's quite hard to get something quick from a shop that isn't rubbish.

It's funny because since I've been working outside in the heat, I'm less hungry. I've been eating kind of crappy and drinking soda but my calorie intake is so much lower that I lost another 4 lbs. Since I started this job a month ago I lost 9 lbs, 15 total
