I couldn't have said it any better. We're such miserable bastards lol. In our defense, it's hard to be optimistic when the star of one of our favorite tv programs has been John Cena for the last 5 years I'm trying to be optimistic for 2010. I've been a walking pessimist all through my 20s and I'm hoping a particular quote eventually comes true for me, "youth is wasted on the young" and I finally lighten the fuck up and enjoy my 30s.

Dude, lighten up and enjoy your 30s! Go on some hardcore dates or something.
I just wish people would realize that everyone knows we are about ready to start a new decade in less then 12 hours and then stop telling me we are about ready to start a new decade.

We are not starting a decade
The year 0-10 is the first decade
2000-2010 is the current decade
Until 2010 is used up a year from tonight its still the first decade of the 21st century.

No it's correct, 2000 - 2009 is the first decade. Every new decade begins on the 0. 2000 is the first year and 2009 is the 10th year. So technically, tomorrow is the beginning of the 11th year this century

No it starts with 2001! if I loan you a buck its a 1 its not dollar number 0.
The year 2000 represented the ten of the 1990's decade.
Count with your fingers, 2000-2001 is one year ,365 days then you get 02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09,10

You just proved me right lol. Count with your fingers. If 2000 - the first day of 2001 is 1 year, then 2009 to the first day of 2010 is 10 years to the day. There's nothing disputing it

2000 doesnt count! its the ten of the last set of ten. When you count money you start with 1 not 0.

You're sort of right. There was no year 0 AD. The calendar goes from 1BC to 1AD (because "Nought years before Christ" and "in the Noughth year of our lord" doesn't make sense). Thus the first decade AD ran from 1AD to 10AD. So each decade begins on Jan 1st xxx1. So this decade began Jan 1st 2001 and will end at midnight on Dec. 31 2010.

You didn't say that dude! This is what you said
Going by that you just said a decade is 11 years. That's all I was saying. I don't dispute that the decade starts on the 1 instead of the 0 like V said. But if it starts on the 0, then it ends at the end of the 9. If it starts on the 1, it ends at the end of the 0. I'm just doing simple math here. Regardless I was just saying the beginning of 2000 til the end of 2010 is 11 years
So if you say the decade is 2001 til 2010, then yeah, I agree. I was just saying the math wasn't correct

As far as I'm concerned its a new decade. Its how history is going to look at it. No need to fight a battle you can't win.
