Tomorrow should be fun. There's already about 6-8 inches of snow outside.

We haven't gotten any bad weather worth talking about since December 20th. It's just been real fuckin cold like averaging out upper 20s as a high.

I'm in one of the worst affected parts of the country. As any non-insane person would do, I went out walking at 7AM yesterday (i.e. Wednesday) morning to see how bad it was in town and the snow was knee-deep in places. It's been -16 degrees at night. There's a pretty cool satellite pic that I'm too lazy to hotlink or rehost: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/8447023.stm

every area in the world has their own definition for "cold" weather.
For New York cold is anything around freezing. very cold is not breaking the 20s for the high that day and extremely cold here is day that barely breaks 10 to 15 degrees. It's rare that it gets that frigid over here though. I would say about 3 - 5 days out of the winter we don't break 10 - 15 degrees and get a low of 0 to - 5. The coldest winchill I've ever recalled here was about - 20. That's fuckin cold, but it's also very rare. Other parts of the world get it way worse. Hell if you just drive an hour north from where I live, they average out about 10 degrees colder than here and start getting snow like a month before we do. If the same storm hits us in November, they'll get 30 degrees and snow and we get 42 degrees and rain, just 50 away.
It just looks like a sheet of ice. I can't imagine Britain having good winters at all

Out in Denver we're freezing our asses off too. We haven't broken 20 degrees in since before Christmas. But today we're going in the 40s and this weekend the fifties. Colorado is good like that.

Overnight into today we had some snow and it's around 35 degrees so it's not really sticking. We're pretty much averaging out a high of freezing(29 - 34) for the next week. I wouldn't even mind 40s right now. I can't stand anything below freezing. ONce we start getting consistent 40s and 50s it's a relief. But I'm not happy until we're breaking 60 consistently.
I really don't like it in NY anymore. I never thought I would want to leave because all my friends and family are here. But I rarely see anyone anymore anyway(3 words that started with "any". I didn't even mean that lol). I'm to the point now where, ever since I went to Florida in August, I realize more than ever that there's so many other places I'd rather be than NY. When I was in Florida the people were so much more up to my speed. They were cool, there was no drama, and all the bars were like family and they took you right in. Not to mention every other place I've been to in the country or the world people were nicer. To top it off the weather is awesome. Even though it gets muggy it's still all good. Up here, it's all nasty minorities, arrogant chicks, retarded traffic, and cold winters. Not to mention super expensive to live and IMO so NOT worth it. I think NYC is also insanely overrated and packed with people who would step over you if they saw you drowning in a puddle. Everything about NY to me sucks except the convenience of having everything near you. Yonkers is a lot like NYC in the sense that the main streets have everything you need. But people don't just walk around like in the city. White Plains is more like that

By far, the best months to be in New York are June - September. Even May isn't bad but it's not the month I'd pick to take a vacation here because there are still some chilly days and the beach water is freezing. The October air is awesome and we still get 70s temps earlier in the month but it's still not the month to vacation here either unless you're looking for relief from intense heat somewhere else in the world

When I was in New York a few years back, I think for the few days I was there it was swelteringly hot one day, then freezing and pissing with rain and snow the next, then just mild and in-between the other day.

Yeah late March and early April you'll get that. You can have a day in April where you'll get like a fluke 80 - 85 degree day and then suddenly it'll hit freezing a few nights later.
Back in 1998 we had the craziest week I could remember. The last week in March we had 3 days in a row it was in the low 80s. Even 11pm one of those nights, my friends and I were in his driveway shooting hoops and it was still 80 degrees at night. Then a week later, which was the first week in April, we woke up to 4 inches of snow. March and April are the most unpredictable months

Thank God. It's been breaking 70 degrees here the past few days and getting drk out at 7:30. I love this time of year because I know it's only going to get better and the days are going to get longer over until June 21st. Then it's still awesome outside for another 3-4 months. December - March can die in NY

Less than a week to polling day over here in Blighty.
Going to be voting, Mastersnit?
I almost think that because our economy is so completely fucked, it doesn't matter who will win. We're essentially chosing between getting kicked in the balls, punched in the face, or smacked with a tire iron.
Something else that depressed me (other than Gordon Brown's heel turn) was listening to the radio, where they interviewed students saying it was their first time voting. Their first time. This is going to be my third. And I was only a few months too young for the '97 vote. I'm old. Really.
