I read an article on an ex wwe writer's opinion on punk quitting. He brought up a great point. He said he's 70% sure that punk walking out is not a storyline because, wwe already did that storyline with punk. Why revisit it again now?....I know I know, you can't put anything past the backward ass butt fucking writers
But, pertaining to what you guys said. Here's my straight up unbiased opinion of punk. I think the guy is good...simply that. He's good. At times he was very good. Honestly, my favorite CM punk run in wwe was when he had the SES stable. I actually thought that was his best gimmick run. His "pipebomb" run in 2011 he had one great promo, a few very good promos and even few more good promos. His best matches in wwe, BY FAR, were against John Cena! Ironically, John Cena's best matches were against CM punk too. There was just magic there in the ring with those 2. Their match in the summer of 2012 with the double pin was downright spectacular. But at the end of the day, punk is not the best in the world. What he is, is better than about 80% of a B era roster. That's the reality of it

He's best in the world at being over-rated.
His "pipebomb" promo was a good promo. It wasn't this earth-shattering thing though.
I also think his Straight Edge Society stuff was his best stuff.
He's a one-trick pony though. Snivelling little sarcastic douchebag shit is the only thing he can do. That's why he sucks balls as a Heroic Face. That's why his "Best in the World" shtick is so phoney. Can you imagine Punk doing a completely different character like Chris Jericho did? It does make me wonder if watching Daniel Bryan come in, put on better matches, knock various Sports Entertainment angles out of the park, and then get the manattees cheering for him almost to Cena-level (to the point that Dan really does deserves that Wrestlemania Main Event Punk can only dream about) sticks in his craw.
So while I am prepared to cut him a tiny bit of slack for the manner of his departure (will wait for further information before coming to any judgemnt... if I give a shit at that point... which I probably won't), cannot say I will miss him.
And if he shows up on TNA, that will be the final straw as far as watching Impact goes.

Yeah, I could understand him being upset at not getting a WrestleMania main event slot if he was tearing the house down like Stone Cold in '99 every night, but he isn't and he isn't as good as he thinks he is. Daniel Bryan is a good example of someone who is simply so good they can make anything work, whereas Punk can change his facial hair all he wants but it doesn't disguise the fact that he is fairly one dimensional as a wrestler. He's some sort of snarky smartass with a chip on his shoulder who constantly yearns to show everyone he is right and they are wrong. He never really deviates from that character. 2012 was definitely his high point and I think Triple H randomly defeating him for no real reason when he was peaking probably upset Punk enough to hate Triple H from that point on. But really, the obsession about closing the show at WrestleMania seems really selfish and childish to me. There are guys hoping and preying every year just to get on the card at WrestleMania, and this guy was pregnant doging about facing the Undertaker last year. To me, getting tombstoned by the Undertaker at WrestleMania is better than closing the show.
I also don't care if he comes back. Just think about the 20 minute whine-bomb we're going to have to endure.

Here is a lengthy (but entertaining) interview Punk two months before he quit. It has CM Punk is going to quit and walk out foreshadowing all over it. It is also not in character, Punk is just saying whatever he wants.

I've read rumblings that not only has he tied the knot with AJ Lee but she's also expecting their first child. So he'll have that to occupy his time if it's true.

I read an interview with him yesterday, he makes no mention of AJ (we all know they are at least going to be married) or child. He does talk about spending most of his time doing charity work. Kinda hard to hate a guy for that.

If it's true she's probably just about done with her career then.
That was actually a great interview. I started listening to it and ended up listening to the entire thing. If he makes amends with wwe I would love to see them do a beyond the ring show on him

There is a chance, small, but still a chance, that he has an Edge type situation happening right now. So, just between him and Vince and maybe Heyman there was the genius plan to have him just leave, knowing the mark towns would cheer and it would catch on. He could have been just fed up, but we are just making assumptions. His contract ends this summer, we might know more then. Maybe one of these guys that just got fired will spill the beans.

But chances are one of these guys that just got fired aren't important enough to know the real story lol. I think as far as everyone knows he's gone

I think as far as everyone knows he's gone Just being lower on the totem pole doesn't mean you can't hear things. People talk. Sure, what will get to us will be a story of a story of a story, we all know how the telephone game works. We can really just take the core facts from it. Punk was angry, injured, just didn't care. They will have something, Punk was pretty good friends some people there. He maybe said something to them who said something to someone and so on.

I honestly think we would have heard about it by now. Again, this is just speculation, but the fact that we haven't heard from the main players kinda suggests they did a deal where Punk got to leave (he might also have worked all his contracted dates by the Rumble) on the condition that they all shut the fuck up about it until his contract ran out, so as to let it blow over. They probably didn't think dipshits would still be chanting for him 6 months later, but hey, wrestling is funny.

I hope CM Punk becomes some sort of WWE tall tale. During promos people would speak of the legend of a great man who recently held the title for the longest in 25 years. But they dare not speak his name, because if his name is said three times he will magically appear and put people in a slumber.

He speaks: 411mania.com/wrestling/cm-punk-explains-wwe-departure-said-wwe-fired-him-blasts-triple-h-vince-mcmahon-ryback-wwe-doctors-more/I'm not listening to Colt Cabana's podcast to hear CM Punk whine for an hour (I've heard enough of that kind of shit at work the last few weeks), so I'm going to have to assume that website has faithfully summarised what he said. The thing I was most shocked by were his allegations against the WWE doctors. Misdiagnosing a staph infection? Questionable concussion tests? Pumping him so full of antibiotics that he shits himself in the ring? Damn. Never been a fan of the guy, and he still comes across as a colossal asshole, but it's hard not to be sympathetic. Those last few months sound like hell. Not a fan of Triple H either. lol. "I didn't quit! They fired me! After I stopped going to work for 2 months!" LOL Makes you wonder how long AJ is going to stick at it given how they treated her husband (or at least, how her husband has been telling her how they treated him). But can those dispshits stop chanting for him now? Please? If you want to support the dude then presumably don't give the E any of your money.

I 100% agree with you V. Here's the thing. You can't really know for sure what actually happened. If what he said is true, it's hard not to be sympathetic. Yet, it doesn't change the fact that he is a flat out jerk who is mean to his fans and whined about getting fired after clearly breaching his contract.
But at the end of the day, at the end of ALL of this, stop worshipping this fucking guy and chanting his name like he's some sort of God. He's done with the business, wants nothing to do with the people who are chanting his name, and he said he's the happiest he's been in years. Fuck him, good riddance. Enjoy

I listened to it, and it was actually 2hrs of whining, not just 1hr. Anyway, he did whine about certain things, but I think he was trying to relay the facts of what happened as best he could, so it was an interesting listen I would recommend.
One thing I wonder about is that because he stated himself that the last match at WrestleMania would complete his career, and that he would more than likely move on after that, did it occur to him that Vince, or whoever, was keeping him away from the main event match in order to keep around one of their most important talents? From what he says about various things, it does sound like WWE is ran by people who aren't above holding petty grudges or being difficult with others just because they can, but if Vince knew he could lose Punk straight after booking him in a WrestleMania main event, then wouldn't he hold out on that as long as he could?
About the interview though, he gripes a lot about money and felt he was not being paid as much as others when he should have been. Also, WWE management apparently didn't make any efforts to restructure the wrestlers' contracts to take into account the reduction in PPV buys when the network became available. I had read about this before and it struck me then as being really unprofessional and downright sneaky. I can understand why they would be angry about that.
About him leaving though, it just seems there were a number of problems that added up that made him realise that getting out was the best option. Neglected by doctors who turned a blind eye to a potentially deadly illness, numerous injuries, the company actively attempting to rip off their employees, a main event match at WrestleMania becoming less and less likely, etc.
I just hope that's that now. We all agree those chants have to stop, but this interview will probably just make them worse.
