I'm getting kinda ripped now. I wanted to look good when I was doing my standup and the results are really starting to show now. Between cardio and muscle confusion I think I'm doing this right.

I haven't been able to get out running for a few weeks now. This snow and ice is driving me towards the doughnuts.

I'm doing great lately. I've been working out regularly again. I got most of my strength and tone back. My cardio is really improved. I just have to start my diet after the new year. I'm like Kane right now. Every time I tried getting the diet going, another fuckin holiday came up.
And I DO have an excuse for splurging on the food at holidays. I've been straight edged for 5 months now(5 months today exactly, the 26th). I also haven't smoked 420 in 6 months. But in the 5 months I haven't so much as touched a drink or even a prescription narcotic. I refuse to touch prescription narcotics even if I got an injury again. Pain killers suck to get off of. You basically come down with the flu every day you miss your dose...until you finally detox for a couple weeks and fight it. It SUCKS.
Even better news with that, I got back off cigarettes again 6 weeks ago so I'm officially CM Punk straight edged now(unless that mutha fucka is on ambien like Jeff said lol).
But I'm in such a disciplined mode now that I know I'm going to go through with the diet for my New Years Resolution. My goal is to get in the best shape I've ever been in. I got everything else under control finally. I just have to go back to egg whites, tuna and good carbs again. Aside from self confidence, another reason I want to get the weight off is because I physically feel myself carrying it around now and I'm getting tired of it. You know, knees ache, back aches, trouble sitting up sometimes. I feel like a fat bastard. I wouldn't be so down on the way I look if I didn't actually feel the repercussions physically. I just want to feel better, make my cardio a hell of a lot easier, and stop torchering my overall mobility because I can't put down a fuckin piece of candy

No point in worrying about vices too much at the end of December. There is the new year soon and the resolutions to go with it.

It's weird the kind of shape I'm in. I'm only 5'6 and I'm 215lbs. I have a 38 inch waist but you can see my ab muscles. I'm just a big bulky short guy with a layer of fat covering my muscle tone. If I didn't work out for so many years I'd look AWFUL right now. I'd be like Peter Griffin. Three months ago I looked horrendous compared to the way I am now and I'm 5 lbs heavier now. Muscle memory is a great thing to have. I'm so grateful for it. Everything toned right back up in 3 months and I didn't even work that hard. I just have to get the BRR weight off and I'll be set for the summer and I won't have as many back problems

I've been destroying the gym lately. I've been in 6 days a week since the New Year. I put up 300lbs on the bench last Monday and today I repped 225 for 10 reps, and yesterday I leg pressed 815lbs for 8 reps. I'm also running 1.5 to 2 miles a day. I'm trying to kick that up though. I still have to lose some weight. I'm 217lbs(15.5 Stone for the Brits). That's the highest I've ever been

Good going, Champ. You must have plenty of muscles on you. Might be an idea to go easy on the weights for a week or two and focus on the cardio to burn some of the fat before going hard at the weights again.

I'm actually doing that next week. I wanted to go hard on the weights in the beginning to strengthen my overall mobility back up. I'm definitely feeling good from that. Next week, I'm still going to do weights, but I'm going to cut the weight in half and do high reps for about a month and see where that takes me. It's good to change it up every few months anyway.
The truth is the reason I'm struggling with the weight is because I'm eating like an asshole. I seem to start out good in the morning and end off terrible at night. I also quit smoking again 3 1/2 months ago so that probably has something to do with it

My Dad was always skinny, but after he quit smoking he packed on the pounds like you wouldn't believe (or maybe you would) in a short space of time. I started calling him a Roswell Alien due to his huge stomach. I think it happens to pretty much everyone who stops smoking.

Everyone I've known who has quit smoking has put on a bunch of weight. I think you have to allow for it and just mitigate it going forward. Good to hear you're feeling good about it again. Being arsed is half the battle.
My eating has gone to shit recently. It's fine through the day, but when I get home I'm overdoing it again. Part of it is because I have a much longer working day now (2hours of travelling as opposed to 10 minutes before), so it's harder to maintain discipline. On the other hand, my new job is quite demanding physically (plus all the walking I have to do as part of my commute), so I haven't put on any weight at all so far this year. I started at 169lbs and I'm still at 169lbs. So if I could cut back just a little I would make progress.
Also as I have to leave at 7AM to arrive at work punctually I have a lot less time in the morning for running, unless I start at 5:15AM, which I don't want to do in this weather. I also hurt my knee back in January, and even now I'm leery about overdoing it. So at the moment I'm restricting myself to 3.5 miles per go, (which I can now do in under 28 minutes - so hooray on that front), three times a week. I say "restricting" when really I mean "I can't be arsed to do more than". Even though I'm not doing as much running as I used to, at least I've been able to keep doing it regularly, and fit it into a new routine, which I'm pleased about.
So at the moment I'm just trying to "tread water" until I move closer to work next month. At that point I'll cut 1.5 hours off my travelling, which will mean I'll have more time for running, a shorter day and hopefully it will be warmer too.

Night eating is my biggest problem right now. I'm staying away from the Easter bullshit

Yeah, I don't care about Easter either. And I'm not that fat of a turd, I just found that pic funny. I do need to shed some doughnut blubber though. Now that the weather is better I'll be jogging more.
I know what you mean with the night eating. I drink tea to skite the hunger.

I have to get back to the green tea at night. Green tea shuts off the fat switch and has antioxidants

I'm tearing up the gym these days. I'm repping 275lbs 5 to 6 reps on the bench now, close grip 225 for 8 reps, 165 on shoulder press for 6 to 8 and last week I did 1,000 on the leg press for 8. I weigh 224 now but still wearing the same size clothes. I put on over 10 lbs since the New Year. It has to be muscle
