Anyone else think they have somewhat ruined Bryan's push and his big moment with beating Cena clean at SummerSlam for the WWE title?
To begin with he only held the title for a few minutes before Orton beat him. Then despite sort of winning the title again for a day he ultimately lost the feud with Orton and is now in a tag team. To make things worse, after besting Cena a mere few months ago and creating a moment fans have been hungering for for years where another face elevates himself to Cena's level, it feels as if it doesn't even matter now. Cena has came back, won the world title and is now feuding with Orton again for what might eventually be a new unified and undisputed world championship. It just seems old and uninspired. I would understand to a degree if it was WrestleMania season and they wanted to load their top matches on the card with tried and tested draws the fans are more familiar with, but it's only the start of December.
Come to think of it, pretty much all of the finishes to PPVs and final chapters of feuds have been terrible lately. Non-finishes and referee screwjobs dominated the Bryan - Orton feud, and Big Show falling for the old "hey, look over there!" at the last PPV.
In general, the optimism of a few months back seems to be slowly unravelling for me.

I suppose you could argue his position in the company is much better than it was this time last year, so in that sense his push has been successful. He's now a solid upper-carder.
But yeah, it is kinda strange how they've treated him. Even if they always wanted Randy Orton to be the Champion at the end of this, couldn't they have gone about it a bit better? Couldn't they have given Dan 2 months with the belt, overcoming obstacle after obstacle, until the Cell match proves one hurdle too many? Because you'd think he's due vengeance after all those screwy finishes, and now it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
(I don't quite see how Cena ties in to the whole "Face of the Company" angle either, assuming he isn't turning heel)

"Big show fell for the old "hey, look over there!"" LOL I laughed so much when I read that. I just kept thinking of this big stupid veteran getting fooled
One thing I've learned about Vince McMahon over the years is he's a businessman to the core. When cena was out and orton and Bryan were feuding, the ratings dropped significantly. There's apparently still marketing proof that cena draws the company the most money.
But I see both of your views. V has a good point that it can be argued that Bryans push wasn't ruined but, he was actually extremely elevated in the last few months and he's now up there with guys like punk, big show and sheamus. He sure as hell wasn't that high on the pecking order 6 months ago.
Then there's the other side like MS mentioned, there MUST be another route to take than heel orton vs face cena AGAIN. It's like we've been watching the same shit over and over in multiple circles for 8 years now. something has got to give. Personally, I think both cena and orton are the best they've ever been, but it doesn't mean I want to see this fucking match AGAIN.
Wwe has been playing it way too safe for years. I understand that you have guys that make the company more money than others but, Jesus Christ, at least TRY to think outside the box.
I've also come to my own little personal conclusion that roman reigns is the next big thing. That guy just has something about him. Dean Ambrose is a little more talented but I think roman reigns just has something special that we haven't seen in years and I can't pin point it. His presence, look, and demeanor is a good start I guess

I think the crowd at RAW a couple of weeks back ruining the ascension ceremony with Daniel Bryan chants pretty much said everything about the majority of the fans' feelings regarding Cena vs Orton XII. This Time It's For Two Belts.
About Roman Reigns I agree that he is a main eventer in waiting. I've been getting Batista vibes from him for quite a while now. I doubt he's going to be the kind of guy who will sell a feud with top notch promos or flamboyant behaviour, instead he has the presence to make a glance or a subtle change in demeanour convey a strong message, much like Batista used to do. It'll probably be after WrestleMania now, but that rocket they plugged into John Cena in 2004-05 will likely be getting lubed up again around April.

I am getting Batista vibes out of Reigns. I think he can put on a better match then Batista but I feel like his promos will probably be lacking, like Batista.
Like MS said, the crowd is nutty for Bryan. There has to be a bright future for him, unless he starts striking out on wellness or Benoit's the Bella Twins.

I actually have been saying(to some people and myself. Don't remember if I mentioned it here) that roman reigns is like a solid cross between the rock and Batista. That's a very very good thing to have going for you. With that said, I agree with the Batista vibes with the whole, having that natural charisma by having to do very little, to get a reaction. That's the reason Batista was a top guy. He damn sure wasn't the most talented guy we've ever seen. But he had a presence that most men don't have and I feel like roman reigns is the first guy to have that since Batista.
Then on the flip side reigns has the Hollywood looks of the rock. I guess being his cousin, that makes some sense. I mean, the rock can't be the only one that didn't turn into a fat Samoan mess. I guess Roman is the second generation of token Hollywood handsome Samoan.
I feel like Brian and punk are doomed to guys like cena and Orton. They are both having extremely successful careers though. They are basically having the greatest careers in the wwe that guys like them could have, with Orton and cena in the way. But wwe always has those couple of very identifiable super heavyweights that will always be in the way of guys like Bryan and punk. I feel like sheamus is one of those guys too. It's like it's almost impossible for a guy that can get lost in an airport to be the hulk hogan of wwe. In order to be hulk hogan you have to have this ridiculously unmistakable look. Cena, Orton and sheamus all have that. That's one thing I've noticed guys like that have in common.
