Who's side you taking? Rocks or Cenas?
After week 1 of confrontations and promos, I am once again going with Cena. I could relate to his promo. We have all failed at something and have all tried to get back on the horse and overcome. Rock was just being a dick.

Honestly, when I look back, I was never really a "rock guy". But when he was on point, you couldn't touch him. But when I REALLY think about it, there was roughly only one good year where I thought the rock was really great. That was like the 1998-99 time.
I guess what I'm getting at is, I almost feel like the same thing happened all over again. The rock returned 2 years ago and just showed a charisma that put the locker room to shame. But then, just like 2000-2002, I feel like the rock is just cheesy and kind of annoying again. He also just comes off disingenuous. Here's what I mean....
How are we supposed to believe that winning at wrestlemania this year is more important to the rock than cena? Wwe is cenas life. Love him or hate him, everyone knows that the wwe is EVERYTHING to cena. While I DO believe the rock loved the wwe, and I could see that when he won the belt at the rumble, rock still left to pursue other interests. In other words, I see he has a life outside of wwe where wwe is all cena has.
Then after cena pours his heart out, rock tells cena winning at mania is more important to him and that cena is just full of crap. What kills me is how everyone goes nuts for the rock too like it really is all about the rock.
With that said, I'm more pro cena this year than last year. I feel like this means more to cena in kayfabe and real life. I just can't relate to the rock. I feel like cena needs this so much more and wants it so much more. Rock is just going to fuck off again anyway. I'm done with the rock, not even just real life but kayfabe too. He just isn't doing it for me.
In a nutshell, I get the business side. Rock in the main event at mania is GREAT for business. It's money I totally get it. If it was my business, I'd totally have him there too. But kayfabe wise, the guy is a total dick and his opponent is getting all the boos. Why, because he sucked in 2006? News flash, the rock kind of sucks now and cena is actually better than him overall if you ask me. Rock simply has IT. But he hasn't impressed me 80% of his career

First off, I'm still really annoyed that this rematch is even taking place, let alone at Wrestlemania.
Now I've gotten that out of the way, I think the Rock's return is an object lesson in nostalgia. I mean, I can remember watching wrestling with my housemates and friends and a few (lot) of beers, and I have fond memories of it. And The Rock was the star of the show for us (this was just after Steve Austin got run over in the parking lot). But man, that was a really long time ago now. Rock is basically playing a totally different character now. The charisma and the presence is still there, but it's not the same manic energy and silliness. He's also playing his character in a different environment.
I suppose I might as well point out that I'm 33 years old now, not 20. I guess this is how those people who go to Rolling Stones concerts feel.
On the other hand, I think getting older is really helping the Cena character. When I think of good promos of the last few years, I think of Cena's against CM Punk. His age and experience gives his serious promos a lot more authority (especially when contrasted to the childish smugness of Punk), and make them more effective.
Which is a roundabout way of me saying "neither". But I think Cena has more potential to interest and entertain me in the future than this iteration of The Rock, which is kind of amazing to write.

I never got too excited by this feud the first go 'round and I don't think it's going to be any different this time.
I wanted Cena to win the first match seeing as it was supposed to be a "once in a lifetime" thing. Now I want him to win this time, and fully expect him to win, so that he doesn't become the Rock's pregnant dog.

That's how I see it too. The Rock is just kind of like Dwayne Johnson with Rock's energy. he used to say Rock and Dwayne were the same person. No....there was a time the Rock was THE ROCK. The arrogant roody poo asshole that told you to shove it up your ass. That was the real Rock. Today I feel like it's Dwayne cutting promos and throwing Rock lines in there. He sucks
