By process of elimination(no pun) i wouldve picked swagger to win the chamber. But the truth is, I didnt see any of those guys going for a major title at mania. So I thought there was going to be something fucked up happening at the chamber, like involving MITB. But instead we get a blockbuster impromptu of kofi Kingston vs dolph ziggler......a match we haven't seen 7000 times, just 6999 times.
Mania is pissing me off already. It's not even because swagger sucks. Infact I'm really enjoying the new swagger with uncle zeb. But where the hell was swagger 3 weeks ago? And who was he 6 months ago? He was basically a loser. I feel like the roster is so weak right now that they had to slightly repackage one of their guys just to have a number 1 contender for one of the world titles at the biggest wrestling ppv in the fucking WORLD.....seriously?
This tells me one of three things, or maybe all three
1. Merge the damn titles back to one title. Seriously no one gives a crap about the world title anymore anyway.
2. Wwe's overall roster sucks dick right now. Mainly, it's a stale roster. Even randy damn orton, who still happens to be really over with the crowd, was still too boring to be the number 1 contender.
3. They're doing a TERRIBLE job building up mania this year. Seriously, aside from the fact that we now know its rock vs cena again, theoretically, dirt sheets aside, what the hell is there to look forward to this year? What's sheamus doing? What's boring orton doing? What's punk doing? What's big show doing? What's ryback doing?...there's like no build and mania is in 6 weeks
Like I said I'm not opposed to swagger being the number one contender for the world title. In fact I personally like it because its different. But for wrestlemania, del rio vs swagger does not feel like a world title match at wrestlemania. They seriously need to merge the titles. One devalues the other. It does no favors except force wwe to put guys in the spotlight who just aren't ready yet. Same goes for the money in the bank and having 2 winners a year now. Anyone wonder why ziggler hasn't cashed in yet? It's because he's a fuckin midcarder walking around with a contract he's not that creative just can't seem to get him ready for.
I feel like wwe needs a bit of an overhaul. Merge the damn titles and scrap the mitb ppv and bring it back to mania. That alone would make the big prizes at mania more important. If you ask me, one mitb contract match is better than a second world title match at mania anyway

And who was he 6 months ago? He was basically a loser. There are six people in the world, the rest are paste. They should make the "world" title the "television title". It gets defended once a week, be it on Raw, SD, Superstars or Main Event. If you want a shot you have to work your way up the ladder. With 7 hours of tv to fill every week there's no reason why they can't do it. I think the kids would get behind Ryback if he built up a 16 or 20 week streak. Kofi Kingston's been around for 5 years and I still couldn't tell you a single thing about his character. Other than he's a smiley dude. What the motherfuck do these writers do all day? I'm not usually one to say "they're doing a terrible job building up mania". But this year, they're doing a TERRIBLE job building up mania. I agree with you. I just don't know what I'm supposed to give a shit about. I already saw Rock vs Cena. If it was me I'd get rid of the MITB completely. That whole shtick is beyyyyyyonnnnnnd played out now. It's a total cliche. They need better writers. It seems like the same thing I've (we've) been saying for nearly 10 years. They give something for Cena and maybe one or two other guys to do, and everyone else is doing the Layla gimmick. If they give angles to everyone, then the fans will pick up on the things they like and new stars will be born. That's why heels get cheered, because it's better than being bland. They also seem to thing that PG entertainment is anodyne mush. I'm certainly glad that we're not having to put up with corpse-fucking or ass-kissing segments, but they can take more risks than they do.

I don't think I'm as pessimistic about WrestleMania as you guys are, but I'm not really hyped for it either. Swagger appearing out of nowhere and landing in a WrestleMania match for the World Title is annoying. It just seems like they got together a few weeks ago and threw one of their biggest matches of the year together in five minutes.
Plus, I'm worried they are going to end up building up to a match between Big Show and Booker T for WrestleMania now that Show is out of the title scene. I like seeing the older and more established guys at WrestleMania, but with the likes of Triple H and Undertaker likely showing up for their annual or bi-annual matches, and the likes of Brock, Booker T, and the Rock doing something similar, it is a little annoying to have so many part-timers taking up spots in the biggest matches of the whole year. At the same time it currently looks like a lot of guys, such as Sheamus, Bryan, Kane, Orton, etc, don't really have much going on.
The disappointment of Cena v Rock II is maybe casting a cloud on the whole event.

If we get CM punk vs the undertaker like it had been speculated for a while ill be a little more excited. But it's true what MS said, these part timers are in the featured matches and the main eventers have no direction with 5 weeks to go

I was just curious about how many of you will be buying (as in, paying actual hard-earned cash, whether it be as part of a group or going to a bar or something) for Wrestlemania this year?

I don't think I'm going to. It's almost $70 this year, I can't justify that to my wallet. Not enjoying most of the build up this year isn't putting any arguments into my brain either. If this show gets heaping amounts of praise, I'll pick it up on DVD when it gets released.

I won't be watching WrestleMania on PPV. I don't think I've paid to watch in a couple of years now. I just don't care about seeing it live any more, so if I have to wait a while to see it and when it's not the middle of the night, then so be it.

Oh, I haven't seen any wrestling live for a few years now either, it's simply not an option any more. The last few Wrestlemanias I've paid for the encore presentation the following evening. I'm slightly more enthused now than I was a couple weeks ago, but nowhere near the point where I would consider buying. So I'm going to be annoyed if this is the Mania they turn Cena heel.

I think they really are turning Cena. They turned Rock and Stone cold each about 3 times. To say Cena is Hulk Hogan and you can't turn him is ignoring that WWE and WCW have turned their Flagship guy before. Cena on Raw got less reaction than Ryback and Fandango Then the Rock came out all PG and still got 3 times the reaction without saying monkey ass. Cena is motherfucking stale as fuck.

Only if we get to here Heenan say "BUT WHAT SIDE IS HE ON?" as he comes down to help Randy Orton and Big Show as the take on The Shield. Otherwise, fuck Cena's heel turn.

I think they really are turning Cena. They turned Rock and Stone cold each about 3 times. To say Cena is Hulk Hogan and you can't turn him is ignoring that WWE and WCW have turned their Flagship guy before. WWF didn't turn Hogan heel during his big run, though. He just ended up leaving. And when he came back he was heel for all of about 10 minutes before becoming a face again. They turned Austin heel at the biggest event of all time, and yet people still wanted to cheer him. I dunno, creatively it makes sense to turn Cena, because like you say, he's really stale as a face and we've seen glimpses of the nuclear heel he's clearly capable of playing. On the other hand, he's their cash cow and I'm not seeing any obvious candidates to replace the money he makes as a Face. So it's a calculated risk. I guess the kids are going to get tired of Cena eventually.

I just realized while doing the pick ems, while this card looks predictable, it isn't. Rock vs Cena, HHH vs Lesnar, Shield vs Faces, Fandango vs Jericho, all seem fun about 12 hours before the big show starts, and all range from slightly to totally unpredictable.

Shield, HHH and Fandango could easily lose and Hell No could easily pass the torch. I really think the Rock wants to fuck off to Hollywood though I expect him to drop the belt.

I just realized while doing the pick ems, while this card looks predictable, it isn't. Funny, I thought the same thing. I was all ready to give Triple H 8 points and then I thought... well, who else is he ever going to wrestle? I mean, I still ended up picking him, but it's entirely possible that they do a "Triple H beats him within an inch of his life but Brock pulls out the win by the skin of his teeth" routine. I don't think it's a slam dunk that Cena's winning either. They could go either way on all these matches. Except Undertaker. They need to keep that streak intact for Cena next year.
