I don't know how well you guys know him in the UK but he's a baseball legend in the states from the NY Yankees. He's really into music now and he came into guitar center yesterday.
He was showing me all different scales he learned and we were talking about different style approaches and practicing. He said since he retired from baseball he's been all about guitar. But he had some really good advice for me with practicing and he said it was the same approach he used when practicing for baseball. We were BSing for 20 min and he did most of the talking! lol I was so attentive because, well, it was Bernie Fuckin Williams telling me how to discipline myself on how to get good at something. He's only won a few world series rings lol. He's a great guitar player too and a HELL of a nice guy!

I never hear anything bad about retired Yankees. My wife's uncle lives in New Jersey and belongs to the same country club that Yogi Berra belongs to and from what I hear, as long as you aren't hounding him for autographs hes a real steller dude to have a conversation with.
Its pretty cool that Bernie Williams shot the shit with you. I love hearing about the celebs that aren't mega douches.

Yeah dude, Bernie comes into our guitar center a lot actually. I believe he lives in Armonk which is like a half hour from the store. I've only seen him there twice, but he's been there at times I was off hours too. He loves our store. He'll literally sit there and play for hours. The funny thing too is, he'll always pick up a 3 - $400 guitar and play and he could play the $2000 ones if he wanted too. Any of our customers can.
But yeah, when you talk to him you really don't feel like you're talking to a celebrity. He doesn't come in with an entorage of stooges either. He comes in by himself in jeans and t-shirt like a normal customer and will give you his time. It's funny because when we were talking about practicing and finding our style and getting better, I would be looking at him thinking, holy shit, this is a living baseball legend having a normal conversation with me about playing. lol He really is a cool ass dude. I'm actually looking forward to him coming back again simply because I like him as a person.
I hear the same thing about retired Yankees. I actually heard Mariano Rivera is the same way. A friend of mine was at his restaurant and said he sat down at everyone's tables, BS'd with them and signed autographs and came off really grateful that these customers were making his restaurant a success.

That will all change when Alex Rodriguez retires.
Strangely enough, I do vaguely remember Bernie Williams jamming on some baseball show mannnnnyyy years ago in the wee hours. I think some guy on the Oakland Athletics had a death metal band as a side project, but I can't remember who it was.

Yeah man, soon as A-Rod and Jeter retire there are your bad Yankees. I think there are so many good Yankees stories because of George Steinbrenner. Now that hes gone, the people that are coming into the system now will probably be the assholes.

I actually heard Jeter's not bad but A-Rod is a dick. I was talking to a woman that worked in an MRI place in the city that A-Rod would go to. She said he's the biggest pregnant dog and needs his wife to hold his hand

www.ebaumsworld.com/pictures/view/80507920/It's okay, I don't know who half the people on that pictograph are either. But you get the point. He's divorced. Wikipedia is telling me that he cheated on his wife with an "exotic dancer". That's the most shocking thing I've read today. It should be noted that I've only read that one thing today.

Yeah the thing with his wife and the MRI happened about 3 years ago. That's like 50 years in celeb time
