Even when WCW were kicking WWF's ass, they seemed to stick with those sorts of underdog tactics. If they were sailing away from WWF in popularity, they should have just discarded them and not even acknowledged their existence. Much like WWE does with TNA now.

Even when WCW were kicking WWF's ass, they seemed to stick with those sorts of underdog tactics. If they were sailing away from WWF in popularity, they should have just discarded them and not even acknowledged their existence. Much like WWE does with TNA now. WCW did it for awhile and then stopped for like a year then for the Foley win they did it again and it bit them in the ass. I was lucky enough to have an awesome system set up for wrestling back then. I taped WCW and my friend taped Raw and we would watch them Tuesday after school. Once Austin took over WWE we had to watch that one first. WWE really had they're shit together then. I don't remember too many matches where I didn't care about at least one person in a match. Remember Kaienti? You knew they were going to lose but I still loved them. INDEED!

INDEED! indeed.
Yeah, WWF in the late 1990's were firing on all cylinders. Everyone had a character, everyone had a purpose and it made the whole show enjoyable.

I think thats why WWE has lost so many fans. Everybody used to have a purpose but a bunch don't. Like Chavo, Carlito, Primo, Tyler Reks and about half a year every year Kane.

There is more than that. For example look at the RAW mid-carders who make appearances every week. Mark Henry was getting a random U.S. title match one week, then the next week he was rapping with Mini Me. Jack Swagger vowed to go on an undefeated streak for the rest of the year, within a couple of weeks he got beat in a nothing match and has hardly been seen since.
I remember I used to sit down for RAW at 10pm on a Friday night and I wouldn't dare miss a second of it because I liked all of it.

That's when it really started to suck around 2002 - 2003. They won the Monday Night Wars and it was like Vince instantly stopped giving a shit. Also it was tough ten because they were kind of in an era segway. You can tell that after Austin and Rock left right around the same time, Vince just had no idea what to do with anyone. He didn't even know what to do with Cena. Cena was just a guy with a lot of guts and even though he got cheered he wasn't really over. But then once wigger Cena got really over and started selling merch, Vince invested in only him. It became clear that the company didn't give a shit about anyone else. When they invest no time into developing new stars, of course the show is going to suck. I've heard officials say, the guys that are going to get pushed are the guys that "step up". But how can they "step up" when they are put in useless uninteresting Angles and simply do their jobs the way they're told?

Or in the case of a guy like Carlito, not even appear on TV for months. Then he comes back, cuts a GREAT promo on Cena and is jobbing to the Masterlock a few weeks later.
Or you have that dipshit R-Truth who has his shitty rapping which is crazy over with the manatees, is at least passable in the ring and they do jack shit with him.
And then you have Sheamus squashing Jamie Noble to no heat and a month later he's WWE Champion. I'm not even knocking Sheamus, it's just that there's no rhyme or reason to anything they do. Shit just happens.

![](http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a134/RandyMarsh/wwesh.gif) The thing with Carlito too, he wasn't just Masterlocked but he was Masterlocked whilst presenting a bloody slammy! Phase 1 - Scathing promo on top face in the company. Phase 2 - Masterlocked like a b i tch. Phase 3 - Crack.

Right! How can they say Carlito isn't stepping up when they FINALLY put him back on tv to cut one of the better promos we've heard all year and he just takes an FU pin a week later. Now he's a Masterjobber. He got the Masterlock at the slammies and then lost a 1 on 1 last weeks to the masterlock. Poor Joblito

Yeah, poor Joblito. It's bemusing. He interrupted Matt with a "why the fuck are YOU accepting Jeff's award, heat-leech". Bitter, I-don't-give-a-shit-anymore-I'm-going-say-whatever-I-want Carlito was like the first time I'd given a shit about Carlito in forever, and it just went absolutely nowhere really quickly.

I can understand why Primo hasn't gotten pushed. He's miles behind Carlito in personality and charisma, which takes you farther than anything on tv. But for years I always thought Carlito had what it takes to be a big player and never understood why he got depushed all the time. There was a word going around a few years ago that Carlito and Shelton don't try hard enough to improve and officials don't take them seriously. I guess it's a whole different ball game backstage

Backstage is where the real wrestling happens.

I can't believe that sendoff Tommy Yonkers got last night. He must really be well liked if they gave him a moment like that knowing full well he's leaving for WWE's rivals
