Whats all this hoopla I'm hearing about the Brits trying to replace Simon Cowell's new contest winner with a RATM song? Brits I need this explained to me? And why is the Christmas #1 song on the charts so much more important then any other week over there? Your really baffling me.

I don't give a shit about the Christmas #1.
I honestly cannot explain why it is a big deal in the UK. It's one of those things that just... is. Although it's mostly media hype. I guess Christmas is a slow news week.
I also don't know why anybody cares about the singles chart anymore. I haven't bought a single in over a decade. What's the point with downloads, a million different digital radio stations, myspace and whatever. No point spending £3 for essentially two songs.
Getting Rage Against The Machine to #1 really doesn't prove anything.

So is there a pretty strong desire to throw over Simon over there? I understand he puts out shitty artists but from what I heard no one gives a damn about this new artist, its Simon they hate. I personally love his raw and gritty criticism that he hands out.

Cowell is a pantomime villain. You may never get to touch the Master, but you can tickle his creatures.

I love Simon. People hate him. I respect him. You can tell he's actually a good dude. He's just brutally cold and honest
RATM is baffling. Of all bands or music groups. I love them but it's weird that it's them

Simon Cowell who people watch on TV is a character with a heel gimmick.
And I'm sure the reason it's RATM is simply due to their name. Buyers are "raging" against the X-Factor "machine".
Like V, though, I'm another Brit who doesn't give a shit about it.

V-That song sounded like a giant Euroturd of a song to me. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I agree with Champ. Simon is a smart dude. Probably the best thing to happen to main stream music this decade.
This is the song the Brits should have gone for though. It was a Christmas #1 I believe.

I always thought that was an R.E.M. song after I heard it on Donnie Darko. It wasn't until much later I realised it wasn't. And I think it was a Christmas No.1. I checked. It was no.1 at Christmas in 2003. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christmas_number_one_singles_%28UK%29How about this classic piece of British art. Mr. Blobby. No.1 at Christmas in 1993.

I would rather listen to Mr Blobby than Michael Jackson's Earth Song. The funniest one on that list was the East 17 song. It was a normal song which they put sleigh bells on. Hey presto, a "Christmas" song.

Like V, though, I'm another Brit who doesn't give a shit about it. Simon Cowell is CM Punk, the singing moppet is Luke Gallows and Rage Against The Machine are... um... Sandman? I dunno. Cowell was definitely playing the heel, judging by some of his remarks. I'm sure he is absolutely devastated about the huge amount of publicity this has generated. The most depressing thing about this whole thing is being reminded that the Rage song was originally released 17 years ago. Jesus.

Yeah, I was thinking that, too. People obviously weren't raging hard enough back in the 1990's.
