Orton's the only heel from Evolution but it appears as if he could make a face turn not too far down the road

Wasn't Orton a face a few years ago? Wasn't it a disaster? I think he's too smarmy to be a convincing face. You'd need a Mankind-type character for him to play off in a Wacky Odd Couple scenario to get him over as a face.

I want to see Randy jump out of a cake again just for embarrassment sake.

It was a disaster but it wasn't his fault. It was an almost fatal assassination attempt on his character. Sunday he's a heel winning the world title from a fan favourite Underdog and bona fide murderer, Chris Benoit. 24 hours later, he's a heel getting beat up by other heels so now the fans are just supposed to like him, even though he had done nothing to garner their feelings. It was classic s h i t t y booking.

I remember the blow-off match at the Rumble between HHH and Orton where Orton did a bizarre concussion angle.

It was just too forced and it sucked. Randy has a much better chance of being over as a face now

I still can't believe they tried to get away with it. Anyone with the slightest knowledge of how wrestling works would realise that it was doomed for failure. I'm not even saying that with hindsight, it should have been so obvious. Orton got the Cena treatment back then because the fans felt ripped off by the face-turn.

Also they wanted to try and push Ort vs. Trips for the main event that year. So why did they turn him face in August? The smartest thing would have been to go about Randy's face turn the way they did with Batista. Have him win the Rumble and then tease the turn

Hmmm, it looks like they might start that slow face turn starting with the JBL fued.

Or maybe not.
I wonder if we will look back on The Age of Orton with fondness. I can't imagine he will lose the belt for a few months yet, at least.

Orton's definitely going to be one of the longer reigning champions this decade. Cena leads with 13 months. JBL is behind with just over 10 months. Orton is going on 7 months in May. He'll definitely hold the title til at least Summerslam with the new Age of Orton gimmick

I'd like to see Orton hold on to it till Summerslam. Then drop it to a face that isn't Cena. I'd love to see another HBK run with it.

Possibly Punk to take it off Orton? What else is he gonna do with the case?

I think Punk will either challenge and lose around SummerSlam, or challenge and lose at WrestleMania.
