The question of the night is,
WHY would TNA's biggest main event of the year end with the heel retaining the title with his hand on the ropes?

Answer, Because FUCK YOU......That's why It's funny that none of us wagered more than 5 points on Roode winning (in fact, the only reason you won was because you were slightly more sceptical than me, so kudos). I don't know how they can defend that. Even if they just had Roode win and have Kurt screw him over in the rematch. Is this shit really that hard, TNA? Anyway, the show looks diverting enough that I might check it out when I get home.

I don't even know where to start with that PPV. Sheesh... ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) This is something Hogan said a day or two before the PPV. He's not ready. He's not the next guy. Ya' know, they might think he is. Dixie Carter might think he is. The whole world might think he is. He's not the next guy. If I had to bet money on anybody and really be serious about betting money on anybody, I'd say Jeff Hardy is the next guy if he keeps his act together. Um, that's what you gotta to have, man.
This is much more than being a wrestler, this is crossing barriers, medias, ya' know media barriers, and, and entertainment barriers of all kind. Getting your character down verbally has 90 percent to do with getting over. I just have a very strong feeling Kurt Angle's going to clean his clock performance wise, and carry the match, and basically remains the champion. He's training for the Olympics. , He's had some up and down moments, and I think this is not gonna be a down moment for Kurt Angle, so I'm betting that farm on him.
I'd go with James Storm all day long. Mainstream brotha'! Cowboy hat, beer drinking, middle America, Nascar, Walmart, Country Western. I mean all day long, it's a no brainer. That's me. That's my opinion. So, I mean, Bobby Roode's a tremendous athlete. I would change. I'd build him from Venice Beach, California or Omaha, Nebraska instead of, I dunno, Canada, eh'? I love him to death. He's a great kid. When he looked down at me from the ring, and we had an argument one day, and he goes, "What the hell have you ever done?" I said man, this guy'd be a great heel, but yeah he has a lot of potential there for him to, but if you ask me to choose who to run with', and you gave me those two choices? That's my opinion.Just sad.

I did read that the day before BFG. It's amazing, how can I be so stupid? Hogan told us Roode was losing!
See, but I figured even though Hogan made those comments, they would still at least deliver on Roode winning the actual match but just making him a transitional champion. After all the hype, the people buying the PPV still would rather see the hard working underdog leave with the belt than a drunken 44 year old olympic maniac who's been a world champ on and off for 12 years

I actually read about that too. I thought it was just Hogan heelin' on the big Face.
Anyway, I finally got done watching the show
Good stuff:
Aries getting cheered and him shshhing the crowd was good stuff. If they slow-build it, this guy has the potential to be huge. He has all the tools, the way I see it. Match was good.
"We don't need to confuse Cody any more, he's already confused" That was a great, funny line. Winter was looking incredible.
Bully Ray cut a tremendous promo. This is a guy - like Austin Aries - who really gets what being a heel is all about. I liked that match. I wouldn't want to see a match like that every week though.
Sting vs Hogan reminded me of Undertaker vs HHH. They did jackshit but did a good job with their gestures. I'm not saying Sting vs Hogan was particularly good though. The post-match was a lot of fun.
Crappy stuff:
Joe really is a fucking idiot. At the start of the match he stood there imploring Crimson and Morgan to go at each other despite the fact they both hate Joe and have been baying for his blood since he injured them. So stupid.
More unintentional hilarity: Taz and Tenay's reaction to finding out Bischoff Jr is Bischoff Sr's son.
The Knockouts match was just a fucking mess and ended with Velvet Sky: World Champion. The fact it was on their biggest PPV of the year makes it the worst match of the year so far. Oh wait, 2nd worst match of the year. If I was Winter I would be pretty damn ticked off at losing the title in such a screwy fashion, but I've got a feeling it's not going to be a plot point, is it.
The I Quit match was dumb. With all the in-match yapping it was like watching a movie with the Director's Commentary track on. I mean, I get what they were trying to do, but it was still dumb.
Everything's been said that needs to be said about the Main Event. So I might as well be funny: what kind of stupid promotion would book such a crappy finish to the Main Event of the biggest show of the year? You'd never see WWE... oh.

I often enjoy TNA PPV's but this one just pissed me off.
A match with AJ vs Daniels is almost impossible to fuck up, yet they pulled it off spectacularly. Probably my biggest gripe with wrestling feuds is when they cross the line into absurdity and start talking about killing each other. It's just dumb. I'm fine with two grown men in their panties trying to hurt each other, but when it goes beyond that into attempted screwdriver stabbings, then I'm sorry, but I have to draw the line there.
There was also plenty material for Botchamania from the show. The worst was Anderson just completely whiffing that swanton. Then Taz started blabbing something about him calling an audible. He would have been as well saying, "Ah well, Anderson fucked up there but he did get up, talk it over with Bully Ray and at least they worked out a way to still finish the match."
The main event. Oh boy.

Oh wow, I must have missed that. Or blocked it out. I think "botches" are over-rated. It's meant to be a fight, not everything is going to be crisp. It only bothers me when someone is trying to do something absurdly intricate a la Sin Cara or the Divas. They covered the whiffed swanton well.

I missed the Bully/Anderson match but I heard the swanton was a terrible whiff

I don't mind botches too much, but in this case it was the spot to end the final match of their long feud at the biggest show of the year. It's like getting to the end of a film and as the drama is at it's highest, someone forgets their lines. The worst thing about it was Taz being... well, being Taz and saying something dumb enough to make it worse.
Out of all of it though, I hated the AJ vs Daniels match the most.
There was some good stuff, like V mentioned, but I felt that it was generally a dud of a show. A show kicking off with Kendrick's theme is a great way to start, but there was too much crack thereafter.

Yeah when you say something on camera that should put you in prison for 20 years, it's stupid when it goes that far
